Questions?

Here are some of the most common questions I get about working together.

If you don’t see your question listed, feel free to contact me.

  • I specialize in grief, anxiety, and relationship therapy.

I work with teens, women, premarital couples, and couples.

  • I am an attachment-oriented therapist and primarily provide Emotionally Focused Therapy. I believe that secure attachment to self and to others is what allows us to heal, grow, and become fully alive humans.

I am a Certified Grief & Loss Provider, trained by Claire Bidwell Smith and a Certified Prepare/Enrich Facilitator for premarital counseling.

I am also trained in Narrative Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Family Systems Therapy.

  • I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist Associate in Washington #MG60975240 - Verify License

  • I’ve been a therapist for almost 7 years.

  • Absolutely I do, I actually have 2 supervisors. Supervision helps me continue to grow as a clinician and keeps me accountable.

  • $235 for 50-minute individual sessions

$265 for 50-minute family, parenting, and couples sessions

$1525 for Prepare/Enrich Premarital Counseling. This includes six 50-minute feedback sessions, the Prepare/Enrich online assessment, the Couple's Report, and the Prepare Enrich Workbook. Additional 50-minute sessions may be added to the package for $265 per session.

  • Flexible Reschedules Instead of Cancellations

Consistency is key for the therapeutic process, therefore, I have regular weekly appointments with my clients. I do not offer biweekly or monthly sessions. Your session time is reserved for you, and that time slot is not given to anyone else until our work together is completed.

If you are unable to attend our regularly scheduled session, you can reschedule the session for a new time during the same week, or the week before or after your absence. This allows for a three-week window to reschedule a missed session. There is no cancellation fee if you are able to reschedule, even up to the last minute. If you choose to not reschedule or we cannot find a day/time that is mutually available for a reschedule, you will be charged the full fee for the missed session.

You receive one “free” cancellation each calendar year of treatment where you can skip a session with no requirement to pay, to be used at your discretion.

You are not required to pay for sessions that I cancel or when I take vacation, and I do my best to give you as much notice as possible.

  • I am an out-of-network provider, which means that I do not bill insurance companies for my services. I provide monthly superbills (receipt of service) that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Premarital counseling and couples therapy are not reimbursable by insurance and you will need to verify if using your HSA/FSA is acceptable.

You are responsible for contacting your insurance company to determine if you have out-of-network benefits, what they are, and the process for submitting claims.

Please keep in mind that there is no guarantee that your insurance will reimburse for my services, and therefore, reimbursement should not be considered a financial necessity to participate in services with me.

Additionally, you have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers must provide patients who aren’t using insurance, an estimate of the expected health care costs. You will be provided with a Good Faith Estimate prior to your intake appointment. For questions or more information about your rights for a Good Faith Estimate, please visit cms.gov/nosurprises.

  • When speaking with your insurance provider, you may consider asking the following:

    • Do I need prior approval/referral from my primary care physician?

    • How many virtual outpatient mental health sessions are covered per year?

    • What is my out-of-network deductible and has it been met?

    • What is my reimbursement rate for an out-of-network Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and the following CPT codes: 90791 (intake session), 90834 (individual session), 90847 (family session)?

    • Where can I find the form necessary to submit my own medical claim for reimbursement?

    • What is the process to submit my own medial claims for reimbursement?

If you’d like your out-of-network billing to be done for you, Thrizer is an online service that will do all the work for you.

  • I accept debit cards, credit cards, and FSA/HSA cards through my online HIPAA secure platform.

You may be able to pay for therapy using pre-tax dollars through your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flex Spending Account (FSA). You will need to verify with your account to make sure.

Additionally, you may want to talk with your tax preparer about deducting therapy expenses from your taxes as an out-of-pocket medical/health expense.

  • I do not provide in-person sessions. I provide online sessions to residents of Washington state.

  • As short or as long as you’d like to be. I can’t put a time frame on how long it may take to reach your goals, it’s different for everyone. But it is important that you are noticing changes along the way and if you’re not, we will take a compassionate and closer look at what might be getting in the way.

  • 1) Schedule your free, no-obligation consultation. I will ask you some questions and you can ask me any questions to see if we'd be a good fit for working together. If we are, great! We’ll schedule your first session.

If not, no problem. I’ll refer you to another talented therapist in my network who can help.

    2) I’ll email you a link to your Client Portal where you can complete the intake paperwork before your first session.

    3) A few minutes before the start of your session, simply click the link in your reminder email or through your Client Portal. It will ask you to "check in" with your name and to enable video and microphone access. I will greet you shortly after.
